Blast room
Abrasive transport system
The transport system brings the abrasive from the floor of the blast room back to the recovery system. Phibo supplies it as a pneumatic system or as an automatic scraper system, expandable strip by strip.
- Pneumatic or with scraper strips
- Scraper strips expandable step by step
- Heavy duty gratings carry 4 tons per wheel
- Surface treatment specialist since 1988

Two systems
Pneumatic or with scrapers
An abrasive transport system returns the abrasive in a blast room to the blast pot, either pneumatically or with an automated scraper system. The choice depends on the desired degree of automation, the intensity of use and the average duration of the blasting work.
Pneumatic transport system
The abrasive is sucked in from the recovery funnel in the floor, or from the abrasive gun above ground, and carried to the cyclone unit, where dust and impurities are separated. The reusable abrasive falls into the storage silo, is sieved and flows back to the blast pot, every time blasting stops. Limited wear, so a lower operating cost than a scraper system.
Automatic scraper system
The abrasive falls through the floor gratings and reaches the cascade cleaner via the bucket elevator. The fine dust goes to the dedusting installation, the purified abrasive to the storage silo on top of the blast pot, and coarse impurities stay in the sieve. For continuous recovery.
Option: a secondary circuit
An additional recycling circuit with a vacuum cleaner, easily added to the basic equipment. It lets you recover abrasive in hard-to-reach places, such as recesses and inside corners of the blast room or cavities in the parts, for maximum recovery and minimal loss.

Scraper system
Expand step by step
The modular plug ’n play concept lets you start with a partial automatic transport, with 1 or 2 scraper strips, and expand to 3 or more strips later, without modifying the equipment already installed.
Benefits
- Above-ground scrapers possible
- High recovery efficiency
- Low noise
- Different standard widths, unlimited length
- Adjustable, with the possibility of expansion
The scraper strips can even be installed between rail tracks. Depending on your application, sheet metal walkways or heavy duty gratings are sufficient. Heavy duty gratings carry 4 tons per wheel (200 x 200 mm), so heavy components stand directly on the gratings.
Frequently asked questions
Which types of abrasive transport system are there?
There are two types: a pneumatic system and an automatic scraper system. The choice depends on the desired degree of automation, the intensity of use and the average duration of the blasting work.
How does the pneumatic transport system work?
The abrasive is sucked in from the recovery funnel in the floor or from the abrasive gun above ground and carried to the cyclone unit, where dust and other impurities are separated. The reusable abrasive falls into the storage silo, is sieved and flows back to the blast pot. This happens sequentially at every stop of the blasting process.
When should you choose a scraper system over pneumatic transport?
If you want continuous recovery, choose the automated scraper system. The pneumatic system has the advantage of limited wear and tear, which gives a lower operating cost than the scraper system.
Can a scraper system be expanded later?
Yes. The modular plug 'n play concept lets you start with 1 or 2 scraper strips and expand to 3 or more without modifying the equipment already installed. Scrapers can also be placed above ground and even installed between rail tracks.
Can heavy parts be placed directly on the floor gratings?
With heavy duty gratings, yes: they carry a load capacity of 4 tons per wheel (200 x 200 mm), so heavy components can be placed directly on them. For lighter use, walkways made from sheet metal are sufficient.
